Money laundering charges expected to be filed after Gainesville traffic stop
GAINESVILLE, Texas (KXII) - Federal money laundering charges are expected to be filed after a traffic stop in Gainesville.
According to Gainesville Police, on Thursday, officers pulled over a car that was speeding on I-35, and a K-9 picked up the odor of illegal narcotics after the occupants of the car were acting nervous and gave police conflicting stories.
After searching the vehicle, police found more than $30,000 in cash, gift cards and money orders, and the occupants of the car denied owning the money while being unable to explain where the money came from to police.
No names have been released, but the evidence was turned over to the Department of Homeland Security.
