SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) — A former Nixa streets superintendent has pleaded guilty in federal court to a scheme to defraud the city of more than $756,000.
Larry Covington of Ash Grove admitted Tuesday that he and co-defendant David Griggs participated in the conspiracy between October 2004 and February 2009. The two were accused of stealing from the city by writing fraudulent invoices to fake companies in the names of the men.
Covington's wife, Paula Covington, pleaded guilty last month to money laundering in the same case.
Griggs is awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty last year to several charges.
