Sheriff's deputies on Sunday arrested a Burlington man accused of robbing a bank and then exchanging the stolen money at an Indiana casino.
Aaron Herzog, 30, was charged with first-degree robbery, possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Investigators said he used a gun May 28 to rob a Fifth Third Bank in Hebron and fled on foot with the stolen cash, which was dyed red to make it easier for police to track.
Later that same day three men and a woman exchanged the dyed cash at Hollywood Casino in Lawrenceburg by inserting the money into gambling machines and immediately cashing out.
Herzog and his girlfriend, 29-year-old Cassandra Koenig, also of Burlington, returned to the casino Thursday to launder more of the stolen money, investigators said.
After more of the dyed money was discovered inside a gambling device, agents with the Indiana Gaming Commission said they examined surveillance video to identify the couple.
Koenig has not yet been charged in connection with the case, and authorities are still looking for two other men who exchanged the stolen cash at the casino.
No charges have been levied against Koenig at this point. Investigators are still looking for the other two men depicted in the original surveillance video.
