F. Jeffrey Miller, the once-prominent Kansas City home builder, was sentenced to nine years in federal prison on money laundering, mortgage fraud and criminal contempt charges.
Miller was convicted of perpetrating bank fraud while out on bond for a previous mortgage fraud scheme.
Federal prosecutors accused him of defrauding lenders by submitting bogus loan information to obtain abnormally high loans for borrowers who could not support loan payments.
Federal documents also discussed “file cleaning” parties in which incriminating evidence was destroyed.
In addition to his prison time, Miller has to pay a $2.67 million forfeiture order.
Miller had been under indictment for a $25 million mortgage fraud scheme in Kansas City, but he was acquitted of those charges in February.
