Guilty plea in money-laundering case
Jan.23, 2010
A businessman who delivered some cash in a golf bag to former County Commissioner Josephus Eggelletion pleaded guilty Friday.
Ronald Owens, a 62-year-old Hallandale Beach resident, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit money laundering. He faces up to five years in prison when he is sentenced April 2.
Eggelletion, who pleaded guilty last month after being snagged in a federal corruption probe, will be sentenced Feb. 17. Eggelletion and co-conspirators thought they were involved in business deals in the Bahamas with individuals who turned out to be undercover agents.
